About the collection:
First conceived in January of 2021, ‘Higher Flower’ is a small collection of four paintings with Pippa’s ongoing theme of beautiful botanicals piled high on the heads of beautiful girls.
Each piece began as a lead pencil sketch in a Moleskine notebook, which was then photographed and moved into Procreate on the iPad and expanded digitally. The black & white prints from this collection are a combination of hand drawings and digitally drawn works. The colour prints are taken from the painted originals. So there are three versions to choose from: Black & White prints in A2 and A3 editions of 50, colour prints in A2 and A3 editions of 50 and original artworks on canvas sized at 69 x 92cm.
The concept of ‘Higher Flower’ is a continuation of Pippa’s signature floral artworks. The titles are ‘Cottontail’, ‘Persian Buttercup’, ‘Midnight Corymbia’ and ‘Jade Palm’. The girls have evolved along with the style and technique. The flowers have bloomed and become more sculptural and considered as the world of floristry advances. These works are modern and dynamic, and the hope is that people who identify as women see themselves reflected in one of the artwork. And as the flowers get higher, the works are elevated to a new level.
